Photography: Melanie Ann Photography
I just have to write a little bit about Melanie, because she is honestly the sweetest person you will ever meet! She was an absolute joy to work with. She has an incredible eye, is very quick, and just someone that everyone needs to have as a friend! She is located in Salem, Oregon and does everything from weddings to family photography. If you need pictures, she is your girl! One of the things I have loved most about the blogging world is the opportunity I have to meet and work with other people. Melanie is someone I instantly clicked with and I am so happy to have a new friend! Be sure to follow her on Instagram as well, because her photos are seriously to die for!
I also need to talk about my Lily Jade Diaper Bag! It is honestly the most beautiful bag I have ever laid eyes on. I have been following them for quite a while now obsessing over every single one of their bags, however there was just something about the Elizabeth Grey & Jade that screamed me! It has been my dream bag for a long time and so when I finally got my hands on it, I literally started crying! I tend to be an over packer and so I love all of the pockets it has. You would not believe how much you can fit in this bag! I love that you can wear it over your shoulder or on your back as a backpack! To say I am obsessed is an understatement. Every mom needs this bag! So go snag yourself one for Mother’s Day, I promise you won’t regret it, especially since they are ON SALE right now until May 7th. Sales like this are rare so if you want one, now is the time to grab one!
With Mother’s Day quickly approaching I wanted to share a few thoughts on being a mom to two little girls and what I want to make sure they learn from me.
When I was pregnant with my first baby I remember feeling absolutely ecstatic to find out we were having a little girl! Everything about having a little girl excited me! When I was pregnant with my second, I hoped more than anything we were having another girl, because two girls…sisters! It just doesn’t get better! My sweet girls Olivia and Clara are 6 and 3 now and boy has it been a ride!
One of the most important things I feel like I can teach these precious girls is to be happy being who they are! Each is beautiful in her own way, they each have different weaknesses and different strengths that make them who they are. I want them to know that no matter what is going on around them, what the world says and does, that they don’t need to try and be like someone else to stand out. They are perfect the way they are! I want to teach them to be strong, be true to themselves, and always stand up for what they believe in. I want to teach them to be kind and loving to those around them, especially to those they feel deserve it the least. I want to teach them to always look for the good. Life is dang hard but we are always surrounded by blessings. Sometimes they may be harder to find but they are there and if we focus on them we will find that those hard things become a little easier. I want to teach them to have fun and to laugh every single day. There is always fun to be had if we just look for it. Majorie Pay Hinckley said, “The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache.” I could not agree more, so laugh and have fun no matter what is going on around you!
As I raise my two beautiful girls I often feel inadequate, but I hope to do my best so that they will learn these important lessons, not so much through my words, but through my example. I hope that I can do my best to be the kind of woman that they look up to and aspire to be like. In conclusion, if I could give one piece of advice on raising daughters it would be to be the best wife, mother, person you can be, because they look up to us and want to be just like us. I know this because that is exactly how I feel about my own mother.
Have a lovely weekend!
